Over the past 25 years, Pratham has worked at scale across India to address the education crisis facing the nation’s children and youth.
Pratham is an innovative learning organization created to improve the quality of education in India. As one of the largest non-governmental organizations in the country, Pratham focuses on high-quality, low-cost, and replicable interventions to address gaps in the education system. Established in 1995 to provide education to children in the slums of Mumbai, Pratham has grown both in scope and geographical coverage

Our Mission
At Pratham BC we believe Education is a primary right of all children on the path to improving literacy. We want to make a difference in the lives of those disadvantaged children. An enthusiastic group of volunteers, inspired by a common desire and vision started the Canadian Pratham Chapter in November 2004. Pratham BC Foundation is a registered charity with CRA. Our volunteers are in both Greater Vancouver and Greater Toronto areas. Our mission is to help eradicate poverty and focus on building capacity of marginalized children in India, by enabling them to master the life altering skills of reading, writing and counting.
